Hugh Pentecost is a pen name used by Judson Philips. He also used the pen name Philip Owen and his own name for books. His writing was featured in the television series The Web and he wrote the story for the 1957 movie Appointment with a Shadow. Hugh was born on August 10, 1903 and passed away on March 7, 1989. This American published author managed to prolifically write a huge number of stories under his three pen names. Before he died, over a hundred of his mystery and detective novels were released for readers everywhere to enjoy. The author was born in Northfield, Massachusetts. He completed his education and before that was able to travel a great deal. He enrolled in Columbia University and graduated in 1925. He was growing up when pulp magazines were in a golden age and began writing. Hugh Pentecost is the author of over 74 books across 9 series. Their most famous work is the Publication Order of Dr. John Smith Books series, which has garnered millions of readers worldwide.
