Wole Soyinka is a published author. His full name is Akinwande Oluwole Babatunde Soyinka, and he goes by Wole Soyinka. He is Nigerian poet, novelist, playwright, and essayist. In 1986, Wole was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature and was the first sub-Saharan African who was honored in that category. Soyinka was born in Abeokuta into a Yoruba family. He would attend Government College in 1954 in Ibadan, then University College Ibadan and then England’s University of Leeds. He studied in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, and then worked in London with the Royal Court Theater. He would also go on to write some plays that were put on in both countries, in theaters and on the radio too.
