Wallace Earle Stegner is an American published novelist. He was also a writer of short stories, an American historian, and a passionate environmentalist. Stegner was born on February 18, 1909. He was born in Lake Mills in the state of Iowa but grew up in different places, from Montana to Utah to Eastend in Saskatchewan. He had the honor of being nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and winning it in 1972. Five years later in 1977, the author would also be the recipient of a United States’ National Book Award. The author passed away on April 13, 1993.
