Troy Denning

Troy Denning otherwise known by his pseudonym Richard Awlinson is a science fiction and fantasy author and former game designer. While he started out as a game designer, once he published “Waterdeep” the New York Times bestselling novel in 1989, he became a prolific author and now has more than twenty novels to his name. Denning was bought up in Idaho Springs, Colorado and from a very young age was a voracious reader of fantasy and science fiction.

The best place to start is the Combat Command series, the earliest of Troy Denning's multi-book series: it opens with The Cold Cash War (1977) and runs to 10 books across 1977–1989, ending with Cold Cash Warrior (1989). Troy Denning's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Troy Denning has 302 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1977 and 2027. 295 of them belong to 24 named series — the largest being the Star Trek: Starfleet Corps Of Engineers series with 75 books — and 7 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Troy Denning's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Combat Command (1977–1989, 10 books), Marvel Superheroes (1988–1999, 3 books) and Forgotten Realms: Avatar (1989–1998, 4 books), plus 18 more.

This guide splits Troy Denning's 302 books into 24 named series and 7 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Star Trek: Starfleet Corps Of Engineers (75 books, 2000–2012); Star Wars: The New Jedi Order (26 books, 1999–2006); Forgotten Realms: The Harpers (14 books, 1991–1998); Disney's Kim Possible (12 books, 2003–2006); Combat Command (10 books, 1977–1989), plus 19 further series.
