In September 2001, he joined the Press Complaints Commission as a complaints officer, completing other roles at the PCC including assistant director and deputy director, and press officer before he was appointed Director of the PCC on December 19, 2010. Stig loves detective novels above any other type of literature, plays, films, or TV. Away from books, he presents a breakfast show on Times Radio, a station that he helped launch back in 2020.
