Shaun Hutson

Shaun Hutson is a well known British writer of horror, thriller, suspense, crime fiction, fantasy, and science fiction stories. He has written more than 30 novels under his original name and numerous pen names. Hutson is particularly famous for writing the Sean Doyle series, the Heathen series, and the Slugs series.

The best place to start is the Track series, the earliest of Shaun Hutson's multi-book series: it opens with Track (1986) and runs to 3 books across 1986–1988, ending with Apache Gold (1988). Shaun Hutson's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Shaun Hutson has 74 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1981 and 2026. 15 of them belong to 5 named series — the largest being the Sean Doyle series with 6 books — and 59 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Shaun Hutson's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Slugs (1982–1985, 2 books), Track (1986–1988, 3 books) and Sean Doyle (1991–2026, 6 books), plus 2 more.

This guide splits Shaun Hutson's 74 books into 5 named series and 59 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Sean Doyle (6 books, 1991–2026); Track (3 books, 1986–1988); Heathen (2 books, 1993–2002); Incisions (2 books, 2023); Slugs (2 books, 1982–1985).
