S. E. Smith

“Christmas is not about the lights, not about the presents, not about the food, but about being there for others, being a friend, loving someone whether they are family or not. Christmas is a time of peace, of acceptance, and of making every world a better place.” A quote like the one above feels like it has been spoken by a spiritual guide or a motivational speaker. Who could imagine that these words have been spoken by a writer!

The best place to start is the Cosmos' Gateway series, the earliest of S. E. Smith's multi-book series: it opens with Tink's Neverland (2010) and runs to 8 books across 2010–2019, ending with Saving Runt (2019). S. E. Smith's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

S. E. Smith has 142 books catalogued in this guide, published between 2010 and 2026. 132 of them belong to 24 named series — the largest being the Magic, New Mexico series with 33 books — and 10 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. S. E. Smith's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Cosmos' Gateway (2010–2019, 8 books), Lords of Kassis (2010–2023, 7 books) and Heaven Sent / Second Chance (2010–2025, 3 books), plus 21 more.

This guide splits S. E. Smith's 142 books into 24 named series and 10 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Magic, New Mexico (33 books, 2014–2022); Dragon Lords Of Valdier (16 books, 2011–2026); Dragonlings Of Valdier (12 books, 2014–2026); Cosmos' Gateway (8 books, 2010–2019); Seven Kingdoms Tales (8 books, 2015–2020), plus 19 further series.
