ⓘ About Russell Banks
Russell Banks is a published author of fiction, nonfiction, short stories, and poetry. Russell was born on March 28, 1940, in Newton, Massachusetts. He grew up with his parents Florence and Early, who worked as a plumber. They were relatively poor and soon moved to Barnstead, New Hampshire to live. When the author was just 12 years old, his father decided to leave the family and deserted them to fend for themselves. Russell was given a scholarship to attend Colgate University but chose to drop out and travel throughout the south after he had been enrolled for just six weeks.
