Rosie Thomas

When Janey King, nee Morris, an author of quite a few celebrated novels, is not writing, she spends time mountaineering and time traveling. These are loves she found once her kids were grown and she was an established writer. Rosie has spent some time on a small Bulgarian research station in Antartica, climbed the Himalayas and Alps, traveled the silk road through Asia, and competed in the Peking to Paris car rally.

The best place to start is the SUNY Horizons of Cinema series, the earliest of Rosie Thomas's multi-book series: it opens with Cavell on Film (2005) and runs to 71 books across 2005–2023, ending with Distancing Representations in Transgender Film (2023).

Rosie Thomas has 98 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1982 and 2023. 73 of them belong to 2 named series — the largest being the SUNY Horizons of Cinema series with 71 books — and 25 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Rosie Thomas's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are SUNY Horizons of Cinema (2005–2023, 71 books) and Illusionists (2014–2015, 2 books).

This guide splits Rosie Thomas's 98 books into 2 named series and 25 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: SUNY Horizons of Cinema (71 books, 2005–2023); Illusionists (2 books, 2014–2015).
