Roger Zelazny

Roger Zelazny was an American author of fiction. In 1937, Zelazny was born to Joseph and Josephine. His father was an immigrant of Polish descent and his mother was Irish-American.

The best place to start is the Chronicles Of Amber series, the earliest of Roger Zelazny's multi-book series: it opens with Nine Princes in Amber (1970) and runs to 10 books across 1970–1991, ending with Prince of Chaos (1991). Roger Zelazny's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Roger Zelazny has 173 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1965 and 2025. 80 of them belong to 9 named series — the largest being the Chronicles Of Amber series with 10 books — and 93 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Roger Zelazny's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Francis Sandow (1969–1973, 2 books), Chronicles Of Amber (1970–1991, 10 books) and Chronicles Of Amber Collections (1978–2019, 3 books), plus 5 more.

This guide splits Roger Zelazny's 173 books into 9 named series and 93 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Chronicles Of Amber (10 books, 1970–1991); Millenium (9 books, 1986–1989); Collected Stories Of Collections (7 books, 2009–2010); Chronicles Of Amber Collections (3 books, 1978–2019); Changeling Saga (3 books, 1980–1989), plus 4 further series.
