Robert J. Sawyer

Author Robert J. Sawyer was born on April 29, 1960 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He was the child of a pair of university professors, and was raised in Toronto. “Search” and “Star Trek”, two of Sawyer's favorite shows, are two things that he credits for teaching him a few of the fundamentals of the science fiction genre. This is something that made him have a tendency to put references to pop culture in his books; his liking of “Planet of the Apes”, “Six Million Dollar Man”, and “Star Trek” (the original) is evident in the books.

The best place to start is the Quintaglio Ascension series, the earliest of Robert J. Sawyer's multi-book series: it opens with Far-Seer (1992) and runs to 3 books across 1992–1994, ending with Foreigner (1994). Robert J. Sawyer's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Robert J. Sawyer has 166 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1985 and 2026. 115 of them belong to 7 named series — the largest being the Neanderthal Parallax series with 3 books — and 51 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.
