Raymond Buckland

From the time he was introduced to the occult as a twelve-year-old, he read everything he could on the subject. He would soon become interested in related subjects including witchcraft, ghosts, magic, and ESP. Similar to acting, spirituality would become a passion that he would pursue right into adulthood.

The best place to start is the Llewellyn’s Magical Almanac Annual series, the earliest of Raymond Buckland's multi-book series: it opens with Llewellyn's 1997 Magical Almanac (1951) and runs to 6 books across 1951–2020, ending with Llewellyn's 2021 Magical Almanac (2020). Raymond Buckland's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Raymond Buckland has 112 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1951 and 2023. 69 of them belong to 6 named series — the largest being The Real Unexplained! series with 36 books — and 43 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Raymond Buckland's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Llewellyn’s Magical Almanac Annual (1951–2020, 6 books), Llewellyn's Practical Magick (1982–2013, 19 books) and Committee Against Evil (1990, 2 books), plus 3 more.

This guide splits Raymond Buckland's 112 books into 6 named series and 43 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: The Real Unexplained!
