Philip DePoy took up writing for a career in the year 1965 at the Actors and Writers workshop which was followed ten years later with a further development into a poet. Further on in his professional studies, he acquired a Master’s degree in performance art. He is currently the director at the Clayton State University, living in Decatur in Georgia.
