He lives in Copenhagen with his daughters. Before he became a writer, he lived quite an interesting life. From working on ships, mountaineering, fencing, and was even a ballet dancer. These are all experiences that he uses in his novels. He writes mystery novels. His debut novel, “The History of Danish Dreams” was released in the year 1988. His work has been published in over thirty countries and “Smilla’s Sense of Snow” sold a million copies. His novel “Miss Smilla’s Feeling for Snow” won a Dilys Award for Best Book in the year 1994, and was nominated for an Edgar Award for Best Book.
