Paul taught in the creative writing programs at Cornell University, Rutgers University-Newark, the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Sarah Lawrence College, and New York University, as well as other places. He works as an associate professor in the MFA Program at Rutgers University-Camden. Paul’s work has appeared in Conjunctions, Fence, The Offing, The Atlantic, Tin House, Ecotone, The New York Times, and in many other anthologies and magazines. His awards include fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Corporation of Yaddo, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown (where he was a Fellow twice), the James Michener/Copernicus Society. He edits StoryQuaterly and serves on the Writing Committee of the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown.
