Growing up, Miranda Hart developed a taste in comedy given what she loved watching on TV during that time. She loved the slapstick humor of “Are You Being Served,” “Fawlty Towers,” and the “Carry On Films” in addition to “Morecambe and Wise,” with its camp silliness. When she was a kid she never liked it when she was told to stop being silly and perhaps this is why she decided to be silly and become a comedian as an adult. Miranda Hart began developing her autobiographical character that we all know and love today at fringe festival shows in Edinburgh. She got her first breakthrough in 2008 when she went to the BBC and read a Miranda script that screenwriter and comedian Jennifer Saunders who was in the audience found to be very funny.
