Author Meg Wolitzer was born on May 28, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York. She is the daughter of a novelist (her mother, who is named Hilma Wolitzer) and a psychologist (her father, who is named Morton Wolitzer), and was raised Jewish. She graduated in the year 1981 from Brown University, after studying the subject of creative writing at Smith College. Her first novel was published in the year 1982, and was called “Sleepwalking”. She wrote this novel while she was an undergraduate. Meg has taught creative writing at different colleges at different workshops. She lives with her husband (who is named Richard Panek, who is another writer) and their two kids in New York. Some of her work has been adapted into films, all of the films had the same names as the books that they were based on.
