He is the writer of various picture books and novels for young adults. He studied creative writing while attending San Diego State University (MFA) and received his BA while attending University of the Pacific. Matt currently resides in the state of New York in Brooklyn. When he is not busy writing, he can be found spending time teaching creative writing. He also travels to different schools across the nation. Matt de la Peña is the creator and the author of the Living series. This series started in 2013 with the release of the debut novel, The Living. The second book is titled The Hunted and it was made available to readers in 2015.
