Mary Stanton

Mary Stanton lives part of the year on her goat farm in upstate New York and the remainder in West Palm Beach, Florida. Her interests away from writing include her goats, horse riding, gourmet cooking which she claims to be not very good at, and gardening. Her writing career has not just involved mystery and crime novels.

The best place to start is the To Have and To Hold series, the earliest of Mary Stanton's multi-book series: it opens with Gilded Spring (1983) and runs to 10 books across 1983–2012, ending with Strange Bedfellows (2012). Mary Stanton's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Mary Stanton has 56 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1983 and 2013. 51 of them belong to 7 named series — the largest being the Hemlock Falls Mysteries series with 19 books — and 5 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Mary Stanton's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are To Have and To Hold (1983–2012, 10 books), Unicorns Of Balinor (1988–2004, 9 books) and Heavenly Horse (1988–1989, 2 books), plus 4 more.

This guide splits Mary Stanton's 56 books into 7 named series and 5 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Hemlock Falls Mysteries (19 books, 1994–2013); To Have and To Hold (10 books, 1983–2012); Unicorns Of Balinor (9 books, 1988–2004); Beaufort & Company Mysteries (5 books, 2008–2011); Magical Mysteries (3 books, 1997), plus 2 further series.
