Marion Chesney

Marion Chesney is a Scottish fiction author. It is the pen name used by Marion Chesney Gibbons. She also has written using the pen names of Charlotte Ward, Jennie Tremaine, Ann Fairfax, Helen Crampton, Sarah Chester, and M.C.

The best place to start is the Edwardian Candlelight series, the earliest of Marion Chesney's multi-book series: it opens with Polly (1979) and runs to 13 books across 1979–1988, ending with Pretty Polly (1988). Marion Chesney's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Marion Chesney has 216 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1979 and 2027. 210 of them belong to 21 named series — the largest being the Hamish Macbeth series with 42 books — and 6 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Marion Chesney's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Edwardian Candlelight (1979–1988, 13 books), Regency Candlelight (1979–1980, 3 books) and Daring Debutantes (1979–1982, 2 books), plus 17 more.

This guide splits Marion Chesney's 216 books into 21 named series and 6 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Hamish Macbeth (42 books, 1985–2027); Agatha Raisin (40 books, 1992–2026); Regency Royal (20 books, 1980–1996); Edwardian Candlelight (13 books, 1979–1988); Regency Flame (9 books, 1980–1993), plus 16 further series.
