Margery Sharp was born January 24, 1905 in Salisbury in the United Kingdom as Clara Margery Melita Sharp. Part of her childhood was spent in Malta. She passed away on March 14, 1991. Throughout the course of her career, Sharp was able to pen twenty-six novels, fourteen stories for children, four plays, two mysteries, and a lot of short stories. She is known perhaps best for a series of children’s books that she wrote about Miss Bianca, a little white mouse, and her companion, Bernard. Many may be familiar with the two Disney movies that were adapted from the stories, which were called The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under. In 1938, she got married to Major Geoffrey Castle, an aeronautical engineer. The Eye of Love is the first book in the Martha series by Margery Sharp.
