Lisa got her first degree in law and then found herself working a variety of jobs in the city of London as well as around the South East area. She then became a police officer in 1996. Lisa would go on to get another degree in the field of applied criminal investigation. Today she is married. Her husband is a retired police officer and they reside together in Kent. They live close to their step-children and their step-grandchildren, and Lisa manages to find a work and life balance with writing crime fiction and also working on a full-time basis for Kent Police, investigating murder as a detective constable.
