Linda Stratmann

Linda Stratmann is a British historical mystery writer with a decent list of fiction and non-fiction writings to her name. Even though Stratmann started writing after a long career in the civil service, her love for writing started from an early age. When not writing, you’ll find Stratmann spending time in the library and archives or giving talks about her next books.

The best place to start is the Frances Doughty series, the earliest of Linda Stratmann's multi-book series: it opens with The Poisonous Seed (2011) and runs to 8 books across 2011–2018, ending with Murder at the Bayswater Bicycle Club (2018). Linda Stratmann's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Linda Stratmann has 42 books catalogued in this guide, published between 2004 and 2026. 25 of them belong to 3 named series — the largest being The Early Casebook of Sherlock Holmes series with 11 books — and 17 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Linda Stratmann's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Frances Doughty (2011–2018, 8 books), Mina Scarletti (2015–2021, 6 books) and The Early Casebook of Sherlock Holmes (2021–2026, 11 books).

This guide splits Linda Stratmann's 42 books into 3 named series and 17 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: The Early Casebook of Sherlock Holmes (11 books, 2021–2026); Frances Doughty (8 books, 2011–2018); Mina Scarletti (6 books, 2015–2021).
