Leland attended Hiram College, majoring in religion where he was the editor of ‘As Is’ literary magazine. He continued to edit ‘As Is’, as an independent magazine, for several years after graduating. He also has a M.Ed. degree from The American University and a MSW from The Catholic University. While attending the latter, he resided in a Sulpician Seminary. After receiving his MSW, Leland worked as a therapist and caseworker with the VA. He enjoyed the challenges of working in substance abuse, acute psychiatric admissions, day care, as homeless vet coordinator, and as coordinator of residential care and the student intern program. He is a LCSW, BCD, and a LFMT.
