He attended Jesus College, Oxford University where he majored in geography before going to City University in London to study system analysis. Tyler has worked for the British Council in Sudan, Malaysia, Denmark, and Thailand before becoming the CEO at the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health. He quit his job to become dedicate his time to novel writing. The Herring Seller’s Apprentice published in 2007 was nominated for Edgar Award for the Best Paperback Original.
