She occasionally comments that since she is the seventh of nine children, she is Seven of Nine, just like the character in Star Trek. She is a big Star Trek fan but hopes that others will not begrudge her that. Her parents originally come from Bangladesh. The author has been to the country twice, one time at four years old and the second time at thirteen years old. Kia also is bilingual, speaking English as well as Bengali. However, she says that she calls Britain home and when she thinks, it’s in the English language. Her parents also had a total of six daughters, including Kia.
