Kate Kingsbury

Kate Kingsbury is one of the three pen names given by the novelist Doreen Roberts Height, who is British by birth and works in the genre of Romance, and Mystery & Thrillers. She was born on October 24 in London, England and that was the time of world war II. Most of the wartime of her childhood was spent in London in places like air raid shelters and school.

The best place to start is the Here Come the Grooms series, the earliest of Kate Kingsbury's multi-book series: it opens with Circumstantial Evidence (1984) and runs to 18 books across 1984–1992, ending with Best Man For The Job (1992). Kate Kingsbury's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Kate Kingsbury has 239 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1984 and 2025. 219 of them belong to 16 named series — the largest being the Pennyfoot Hotel Mysteries series with 23 books — and 20 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared.
