At first, she planned on majoring in Journalism, but later switched to Creative Writing, which seemed like a move that felt comfortable to her. She won a school spelling bee while in the seventh grade; she won with the word ukulele. She has the odd wardrobe and guitars to prove that she started out wanting to be a rock star.
