About Jorge Borges
Jorge Luis Borges was a poet, journalist, and author from Argentina best known for his collections of short stories. The author was born in 1899 in Buenos Aires and would go on to become one of the most prominent literary figures of the twentieth century. In addition to being the founder of three literary journals, Borges was the author of several volumes of essays, poems, and a biography. The author was born to a notable Buenos Aires family that traced their roots to the British Isles. Given the background of his parents, Jorge would learn English before he even spoke Spanish. Right from when he was still very little, he began taking books out of his father’s library. It was at this time that he made the decision to pursue a career in literature.
