John was born and raised in southwest Virginia and subsequently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Davidson College, masters in literature from School of English and a master in fine arts in fiction from GMU where he served as an Editor of the Phoebe magazine. Currently, John Copenhaver is the chair of English department at Flint Hill college preparatory school and lives just outside Washington DC with his partner and two photogenic dogs Roxy and Winky. The author has won for four consecutive years Artist Fellowship from the D.C. Commission.
