Jo Walton

Jo Walton is a Welsh-Canadian author. She is the author of the Small Change series as well as a few other series and several full length novels, short novellas, and collections. Jo was born in Aberdore, Wales, on December 1, 1964.

The best place to start is the Tir Tanagiri series, the earliest of Jo Walton's multi-book series: it opens with The King's Peace (2000) and runs to 3 books across 2000–2002, ending with The Prize in the Game (2002). Jo Walton's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Jo Walton has 81 books catalogued in this guide, published between 2000 and 2026. 50 of them belong to 4 named series — the largest being the Tir Tanagiri series with 3 books — and 31 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Jo Walton's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Tir Tanagiri (2000–2002, 3 books), Small Change (2006–2008, 3 books) and Thessaly (2015–2016, 3 books).

This guide splits Jo Walton's 81 books into 4 named series and 31 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Tir Tanagiri (3 books, 2000–2002); Small Change (3 books, 2006–2008); Thessaly (3 books, 2015–2016); Shoreline of Infinity Science Fiction Magazine (41 books, 2015–2026).
