Jo Goodman

Author Jo Goodman is also a counselor that works with families and children in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. She gets inspired by the strength, perseverance, and courage the kids show on a daily basis. Jo feels privileged that the kids trust her enough to tell their stories to her; the ones that only they can tell.

The best place to start is the McClellan Family series, the earliest of Jo Goodman's multi-book series: it opens with Crystal Passion (1985) and runs to 4 books across 1985–1991, ending with Tidewater Promise (1991). Jo Goodman's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Jo Goodman has 47 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1984 and 2020. 34 of them belong to 12 named series — the largest being the Dennehy Sisters series with 5 books — and 13 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Jo Goodman's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are McClellan Family (1985–1991, 4 books), Passion's Bride (1987, 1 book) and Marshall Brothers (1989–1990, 2 books), plus 9 more.

This guide splits Jo Goodman's 47 books into 12 named series and 13 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Dennehy Sisters (5 books, 1992–1997); McClellan Family (4 books, 1985–1991); Compass Club (4 books, 2002–2004); Thorne Brothers (3 books, 1997–1999); Grantham (3 books, 2005–2007), plus 7 further series.
