Jimmy Carter

James Earl Carter Jr. otherwise known as Jimmy Carter was the 39th president of the United States between 1977 and 1981. He was born in the small town of Plains, Georgia in 1924 though he spent much of his childhood in the nearby small village of Archery. Jimmy was born to James Earl Carter Sr., a businessman, and farmer and registered nurse, Lillian Gordy Carter.

The best place to start is the Adventure Press series, the earliest of Jimmy Carter's multi-book series: it opens with Regions of the Heart (1999) and runs to 16 books across 1999–2002, ending with Storm of the Century (2002).

Jimmy Carter has 166 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1969 and 2024. 114 of them belong to 3 named series — the largest being the Adventure Press series with 16 books — and 52 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Jimmy Carter's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Adventure Press (1999–2002, 16 books) and What Would Henry Do? (2017, 1 book).

This guide splits Jimmy Carter's 166 books into 3 named series and 52 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Adventure Press (16 books, 1999–2002); What Would Henry Do? (1 book, 2017); Literary Conversations (97 books, 1969–2023).
