As a teen, she was pretty grossed out and embarrassed about what her dad did. It was in the days before television shows made investigating death cool and exciting. Her friends learned that her dad did this for a living, and they took a great interest, which lessened the embarrassment on her part. While Jennifer does love the sciences, she always knew that her true calling was to be on the storytelling end of solving crimes. Jennifer investigated her first fatality, which was an airplane crash, when she was eight years old, picking up chunks of skull and brain matter with her dad who just saw it as an anatomy lesson. It would end up being the first of many coroner lessons she received over the course of two decades.
