During high school, he became a wargaming enthusiast. He began playing Avalan Hill wargames which include Blitzkrieg and PanzerBlitz, and the SPI game Frigate. During his freshman year, he went to the campus war-gaming club and was introduced to Dungeons and Dragons. He walked up to a group of players and asked what they were doing. One of them turned to him, handed him some six-siders, and said roll ‘em and they need a cleric. It was all downhill from there for him. Within that same year, he went to Gen Con, a table-top gaming convention, for the very first time. He also ran his own campaign set in Toril, his own game universe. His overseeing of the design of the “AD&D Open” at the 1982 Gen Con, led to Jeff’s employment as a game designer at TSR. Rising to prominence with the Publication Order of Dragonlance Modules Books series, Jeff Grubb has since expanded their repertoire to include numerous successful works across various genres.
