Jae

Before she became a novelist, Jae was a psychologist who gave up her job in 2013 and became a part-time editor and full-time writer, which she thinks is the best job in the world. She now spends most of her time in the old city of Freiburg where she writes. As such, when Jae went to college, she decided to become a psychologist as she was not ready to risk it all by becoming a writer.

The best place to start is the Oregon series, the earliest of Jae's multi-book series: it opens with Backwards to Oregon (2007) and runs to 10 books across 2007–2021, ending with A Place to Call Home (2021). Jae's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Jae has 88 books catalogued in this guide, published between 2007 and 2026. 55 of them belong to 12 named series — the largest being the Shape-Shifter series with 15 books — and 33 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Jae's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Oregon (2007–2021, 10 books), Portland Police Bureau (2008, 3 books) and Shape-Shifter (2009–2026, 15 books), plus 9 more.

This guide splits Jae's 88 books into 12 named series and 33 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Shape-Shifter (15 books, 2009–2026); Oregon (10 books, 2007–2021); The Hollywood (6 books, 2014–2024); Unexpected Love (6 books, 2014–2021); Fair Oaks (3 books, 2017–2019), plus 7 further series.
