Her book The Parisian, her debut novel, was named as one of the New York Times’ Notable Books of the Year in 2019 as well. The Guardian also noted the author was one of their writers of ‘exceptional first novels’ that year. She was part of the Granta Best of Young British Novelists list in 2023. The author grew up in West London in Acton. Her father was Palestinian but had lived in Lebanon prior to England. Isabella attended the University of Oxford, where she went on to study English.
