Irving Stone was born on July 14, 1903 in San Francisco, California and died on August 26, 1989 of heart failure in Los Angeles. He was an American-born writer, known well for his classical biographical novels featuring eminent artists, statesmen and intellectuals. Some of the best sellers include: The Agony and the Ecstasy (1961), Lust for Life (1934), The President’s Lady (1951). Early Life and Education: Irving was only seven when his parents Charles Tennenbaum and the former Pauline Rosenberg separated. However when his mother re-married, he decided to legally adapt his stepfather’s last name, “Stone”. He was pretty much influenced by Jack London who then became the subject of “Sailor on Horseback’’. He graduated from the same University of California, Ber. Irving Stone is the author of over 23 books across 3 series. Their most famous work is the Publication Order of Standalone Novels series, which has garnered millions of readers worldwide.
