Helen Dunmore

Author Helen Dunmore was born on December 12, 1952 (in Beverley, Yorkshire) and died on June 5, 2017 (in Bristol, England) at the age of 64 of cancer. She was the second of four kids, and her father was the oldest of a dozen kids. Because she was a part of a giant family, she heard a lot of stories, not to mention the fact that the stories have different meanings to whoever hears them and it is possible to recast the stories from different perspectives.

The best place to start is the Ingo Chronicles series, the earliest of Helen Dunmore's multi-book series: it opens with Ingo (2005) and runs to 5 books across 2005–2012, ending with Stormswept (2012).

Helen Dunmore has 65 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1983 and 2019. 7 of them belong to 2 named series — the largest being the Ingo Chronicles series with 5 books — and 58 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Helen Dunmore's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are The Siege (2001–2010, 2 books) and Ingo Chronicles (2005–2012, 5 books).

This guide splits Helen Dunmore's 65 books into 2 named series and 58 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Ingo Chronicles (5 books, 2005–2012); The Siege (2 books, 2001–2010).
