Born July 24, 1962, H.R. has served as the 25th United States National Security Advisor for a year from 2017 to 2018. He has also had important roles in Operation Enduring Freedom, the Gulf War, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was born in Philadelphia and graduated in 1984 from the United States Military Academy. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned his Ph.D in the subject of American History in 1996. He wrote a dissertation that would become the foundation of his book Dereliction of Duty.
