H.G. Wells

H.G. Wells was one of the prolific authors from The United Kingdom, who used to write his books based on a variety of genres, including politics, history, social realism, science fiction, etc. At present, he is best remembered for the science fiction books written by him and is regarded as the father of science fiction. Two other authors are included in this club along with him and they are Hugo Gernsback and Jules Verne.

The best place to start is the Correspondence Of H.G. Wells series, the earliest of H.G. Wells's multi-book series: it opens with The Correspondence of H.G. Wells (1996) and runs to 4 books across 1996–1997, ending with The Correspondence of H G Wells, Vol. 3 (1997). H.G. Wells's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

H.G. Wells has 330 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1667 and 2026. 151 of them belong to 6 named series — the largest being the MIT Press/Radium Age series with 13 books — and 179 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. H.G. Wells's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are H.G. Wells Audiobooks (1898, 1 book), Correspondence Of H.G. Wells (1996–1997, 4 books) and MIT Press/Radium Age (2022–2025, 13 books).

This guide splits H.G. Wells's 330 books into 6 named series and 179 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: MIT Press/Radium Age (13 books, 2022–2025); Correspondence Of H.G. Wells (4 books, 1996–1997); H.G. Wells Audiobooks (1 book, 1898); Gothic Fantasy (91 books, 1667–2026); Smart Pop (41 books, 2003–2015), plus 1 further series.
