Gayle Roper

This book teaches the great lesson of forgiveness. It is only through forgiveness that this family can be united again and benefit from the bond they have been missing out on. In the end, Clay has to deal with his resentment for Ted, and Leigh has to accept that he has hated Clay for leaving her to raise their son together.

The best place to start is the East Edge Mysteries series, the earliest of Gayle Roper's multi-book series: it opens with The Secret of the Burning House (1992) and runs to 5 books across 1992–1994, ending with The Mystery of the Poison Pen (1994). Gayle Roper's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Gayle Roper has 155 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1975 and 2025. 143 of them belong to 15 named series — the largest being the Hearts of Amish Country series with 24 books — and 12 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Gayle Roper's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are East Edge Mysteries (1992–1994, 5 books), Adventures Of Scooter and Jake (1994–1996, 4 books) and Amhearst Mysteries (1997–2007, 5 books), plus 11 more.

This guide splits Gayle Roper's 155 books into 15 named series and 12 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Hearts of Amish Country (24 books, 2025); Scottish Bakehouse Mysteries (24 books, 2020–2021); Inn at Magnolia Harbor (23 books, 2019–2021); Victorian Mansion Flower Shop Mysteries (16 books, 2018–2025); Love in Sandcastle Cove (15 books, 2025), plus 10 further series.
