Emily Rodda

Emily Rodda is the pseudonym of Jennifer Rowe who writes children's fiction, young adult fantasy, and general fantasy fiction novels. The author grew up on the North Shore of Sydney and went to the University of Sydney from where she graduated with an English Literature master's degree in 1973. Growing up, she was quite the reader and hence it was not surprising that she gravitated towards publishing.

The best place to start is the Rowan of Rin series, the earliest of Emily Rodda's multi-book series: it opens with Rowan of Rin (1993) and runs to 5 books across 1993–2003, ending with Rowan of the Bukshah / Rowan and the Ice Creepers (2003). Emily Rodda's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Emily Rodda has 103 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1986 and 2022. 86 of them belong to 14 named series — the largest being the Raven Hill Mysteries series with 17 books — and 17 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Emily Rodda's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Finders Keepers (1990–1992, 2 books), Rowan of Rin (1993–2003, 5 books) and Raven Hill Mysteries (1995–2006, 17 books), plus 11 more.

This guide splits Emily Rodda's 103 books into 14 named series and 17 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Raven Hill Mysteries (17 books, 1995–2006); Deltora Quest Manga (10 books, 2011–2013); Fairy Realm (10 books, 2001–2006); Squeak Street Stories (9 books, 2005–2014); Deltora Quest (8 books, 2000), plus 9 further series.
