Elizabeth Wein

Elizabeth Wein is a renowned American-born Scottish author, who is famous for writing young adult and historical fiction stories. She has written a few widely successful novel series, the most popular one being The Lion Hunters novel series. The first 5 books penned by Wein recount a different version of the stories of King Arthur.

The best place to start is the Lion Hunter: Arthurian series, the earliest of Elizabeth Wein's multi-book series: it opens with The Winter Prince (1993) and runs to 3 books across 1993–2004, ending with The Sunbird (2004). Elizabeth Wein's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Elizabeth Wein has 72 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1985 and 2025. 58 of them belong to 8 named series — the largest being the Code Name Verity series with 4 books — and 14 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Elizabeth Wein's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Lion Hunter: Arthurian (1993–2004, 3 books), Lion Hunters: Mark of Solomon (2007–2008, 2 books) and Code Name Verity (2012–2020, 4 books), plus 4 more.
