Eimear McBride is a published Irish novelist. The author was born in 1976 to Irish parents in Liverpool. Both of her parents worked as nurses. When she was three years old, her family moved back to Ireland. Growing up, she spent much of her childhood in Tubbercurry, Sligo and Mayo. She also had an early interest in writing when she was 7 or 8 years old. When she was 17 years old, she decided to move back to London as a young adult. She studied acting while attending the Drama Centre in London. However, after studying there for a time and even graduating, the author realized that she did not want to pursue becoming an actress since she had no interest in it.
