Dinah Lampitt

Dinah Lampitt is a British novelist from Ilford Essex best known for the writing of historical novels set in England. She was born to a Bavarian man that had emigrated to England in between the wars and a Welsh English woman. Her great-grandfather was a professional musician that went by the name Gwilym Lon and was also a nobleman known as the bard of Eisteddfod.

The best place to start is the John Rawlings series, the earliest of Dinah Lampitt's multi-book series: it opens with Death in the Dark Walk (1994) and runs to 17 books across 1994–2022, ending with Death on the River Thames (2022). Dinah Lampitt's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.
