David Weber

This is the first novel that David Weber brought out in the 'Safehold' line of books, an open-ended series of novels he first introduced in 2007. Concerning itself with the exploits with the war between humanity and the Gbaba, a genocidal race of aliens hellbent on destruction, it charts this conflict over the course of the books. In this particular book a colonization mission is sent out by humanity to hide away from the ever destructive race.

The best place to start is the Bolo series, the earliest of David Weber's multi-book series: it opens with Bolo (1976) and runs to 10 books across 1976–2010, ending with Their Finest Hour (2010). David Weber's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

David Weber has 229 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1976 and 2027. 212 of them belong to 26 named series — the largest being the Ring of Fire series with 36 books — and 17 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. David Weber's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Bolo (1976–2010, 10 books), Janissaries (1979–2020, 4 books) and Ranks of Bronze (1986–2001, 3 books), plus 21 more.

This guide splits David Weber's 229 books into 26 named series and 17 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Ring of Fire (36 books, 2000–2026); Honor Harrington (17 books, 1992–2018); Safehold (10 books, 2007–2019); Bolo (10 books, 1976–2010); Starfire (8 books, 1990–2018), plus 21 further series.
