He was born in 1975 to Thai immigrants in Brooklyn before they moved to California when Dan was three years old. After he went to Adolfo Camarillo High School, he graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. Then he went to the Art Center College of Design, and graduated with distinction. During his time there he became friends with Peter Brown, an illustrator. Dan created the show “The Replacements” for Disney Channel in 2005. It was based on a children’s book idea that he was going to write, and it premiered in July of 2006. He’s spoken about his admiration for people that are able to do the drawing necessary for animation.
