He pursued graphic design while living in Ohio for some time but decided to pick up and move to Colorado Springs in 1980. From there, he spent over eighteen years working in the printing business. He along with his family were able to enjoy a lot of outdoor activities over the years thanks to their location and spent plenty of time going rafting, biking, hiking, and skiing. In 1994, Charles purchased an SUV. He quickly developed a passion for going out and exploring the wild of the back country.
