Catherine Marshall is a published American author of fiction and non fiction books. Catherine was born on September 27, 1914, in Johnson City, Tennessee. Her father was a Reverend. When she was nine years old, she grew up in Keyser, West Virginia, where she would live until finishing high school. Her father worked there as pastor to a Presbyterian church in the years 1924 to 1942. Catherine would then go on to attend Agnes Scott College for higher studies. While there in her junior year, she met a man named Peter Marshall. In 1936, the pair got married. They then relocated to Washington, D.C. There her husband worked as a pastor to the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church as well as serving as the Chaplain for the United States Senate. She would come down with tuberculosis in 1940.
